Blue September just keeps kicking goals

Harness Racing New Zealand's Blue September campaign continues to go from strength to strength.

So far $33,477 has been raised for the New Zealand Prostate Cancer Foundation, already exceeding the goal of $30,000 for the entire month.

Ten drivers (ambassadors) are involved in this month's campaign - each time they win wearing the blue pants they raise money for the cause through contributions by their own sponsors, the clubs, and from HRNZ.

There have been 29 wins in total so far.

Robbie Close has raised the most money - $5900 - courtesy of five wins, including two at Addington last Friday night and one at Oamaru yesterday.

Zachary Butcher leads the way wins-wise. After reining home four winners at Alexandra Park last Thursday he now has 11 for the month.

Other ambassadors to add to the fund in recent days have been Todd Mitchell, Mark Hurrell (with a double in Auckland), and Blair Orange and Matty Williamson at Oamaru.

Ambassadors have so far contributed $21,960 to the campaign with the remaining $11,517 coming from the likes of auctions, functions and donations.

The campaign runs through to the very last meeting of the month, at Addington on September 30.
