Famous name onto US Trotting Association

By Dave Di Somma - Harness News Desk

One of the most famous names in North American racing is now involved in its administration at the highest level.

Ashley Tetrick will succeed John Brennan as a director at the US Trotting Association. The 69 year old died in March, the first person in New Jersey to succumb to the coronavirus. Since then more than 8000 have died in the state, it’s the second worst area for the deaths in the U.S. behind New York.

After a trip to the U.S. New Zealand bloodstock agent John Curtin was the sixth Kiwi to get Covid-19. In March he’d had dinner with some people who had been in close contact with Brennan. Curtin has since returned to Auckland where he self-isolated before making a complete recovery.

Tetrick will take up her new job immediately. A graduate from Purdue University with a degree in business marketing she is the key figure behind the Tetrick racing brand. Her husband is Hall of Fame driver Tim Tetrick, who last year notched up his 11,000th winner!

In 2019 Tetrick, Yannick Gangras and Dexter Dunn were the top three stakes-earning drivers in North America.

Right now though there is no harness racing going on, with Cal Expo in Sacramento the last track to close, more than a month ago.
