Inter-island transport still available
Contrary to some reports inter-island horse transport is still available in the lead-up to November’s New Zealand Cup meeting at Addington.
There has been some commentary online that inter-island transport is being severely affected because of the unavailability of one of the ferries, and that there will be no inter island travel for two weeks or more.
While it appears some operators may be affected by the problems with the ferries, others including TFS Horse Transport, say they are still transporting horses.
It’s confirmed it still has places available for next week, though demand is expected to be high, and they could be full within the next few days.
Harness Racing New Zealand is advising trainers to contact their usual transporter to check on availability.
The New Zealand Cup is scheduled for Tuesday, November 9 – that’s around seven weeks away.
