Ladies.. it is your time to shine.

The Invercargill Harness Racing Club are holding a Ladies Fashion In The Field Competition in conjunction with their Group 1 Ascot Park Hotel Invercargill Cup Day on Saturday 17 December at Ascot Park Raceway in Invercargill.

With prizes from McLeay Jewellers, SuperValue Plaza and Craig Heyrick of Harcourts it will be a glamorous addition to a day of prestige with Southland’s first ever Group 1 race on the track.

From the initial entries six finalists will be selected and each one will receive a bouquet of flowers donated by SuperValue Plaza Flowers on Yarrow Street.

The winner will then receive a $400 McLeay Jewellers voucher and a bottle of GH Mumm Champagne donated by Craig Heyrick of Harcourts Real Estate, Invercargill while second place will receive a $200 McLeay Jewellers voucher and a bottle GH Mumm Champagne from Craig Heyrick and third a $100 McLeay Jewellers voucher and a bottle of GH Mumm Champagne from Craig Heyrick.

Enter on the day at the Secretary’s Office on course before Race 3 on the programme with judging taking place soon after in the birdcage.

Two big draws will also be a great attraction for racegoers with the opportunity to participate in a sweepstake on the Ascot Park Hotel Invercargill Cup with the winner securing $1000 while second takes $300 and third $200.

Another separate draw will be made to win a trip to stay at the Peninsular Beachfront Resort in Mooloolaba courtesy of the Peninsular Beachfront Resort with $1000 towards travel courtesy of the Beach Road Holiday Park.

The feature race is the Ascot Park Hotel Invercargill Cup, a Group 1 race with a stake of $100,000, the first time a Group 1 race has ever been held in Southland. Backing up the Cup will be a Group 3 race, the David Moss Trot with a stake of $30,000.

Admission is free and the twilight programme commences at 4pm.
