Methven readying for return of racing

The Methven Trotting Club committee is busy preparing for its rapidly approaching spring meeting on Sunday September 11. This first grass track meeting will be a refreshing change for trainers, owners and patrons with the more relaxed grass track racing and atmosphere returning.

Over the winter considerable upgrades have been made to the grandstand internally and the roof of the stand is in the process of being replaced at the moment. Racegoers will also notice houses springing up adjacent to the back straight as the club's new development comes to fruition.

The track is in first class order thanks to Kerry O’Reilly and his team and the weather forecast is improving so everything is heading to a great day of racing.

Racegoers will need to be aware Holmes Rd the small road leading to the club’s entrance is presently undergoing roadworks so floats will need to carry on past Holmes Rd into Methven and then turn right to the racecourse.

Lastly like the rest of the industry the Methven race community sends an extra special hello and best wishes to our friends of many years Murray and Kelly Edmunds and hope to see some of his horses and Muzz himself back gracing our course as he has done for so many years.

Mike Heenan for Methven Trotting Club.
