Oamaru Race Track - an update on the All Weather Track
After feedback from drivers following on from the Kurow Harness Racing Meeting where drivers felt the screening between races of the running line was not effective, the club would like to advise the following:
The windrow that forms under the pylons was causing the screen to ride up which led to the inside running line not being levelled and screened to an acceptable standard.
This track maintenance normally takes place before our winter meetings but with the loss of our May, June and July meeting through Covid19 and this type of work classified as non-essential, it was not possible to engage a contractor to complete our track maintenance.
The remedial work has now been completed to remove the windrow build up and the screening of the track is now at 100%. At our latest trials, Matthew Williamson’s opinion was that the track was back to its best!
I look forward to strong nominations coming forward for our Hannon Memorial Race Day on 20 September 2020.
Thank you
