Purdon strikes in opening Sires’ Stakes Heat

With his third win in four starts at Addington last night, Franco Indie has sealed a spot in the Group One Woodlands Stud Sires’ Stakes Final on IRT New Zealand Cup day.
The son of Always B Miki got the perfect trip for driver Mark Purdon in the opening heat of Sires’ Stakes Series 38 for the Colts and Geldings. Franco Indie is also trained by Purdon and Hayden Cullen at their Rolleston stables.
Franco Indie was in the trail behind Cantfindabettorman before peeling out on the home turn and winning by more than a length. Cantfindabettorman held on for second, with Franco Mac third.
Five heats will be held at Addington, Cambridge, Auckland and Ashburton before the $170,000 Group One Woodlands Stud Sires’ Stakes Final is held on IRT New Zealand Cup day on Tuesday, November 9.
