RIB highlights areas of improvement in stable audits
The Racing Integrity Board (RIB) has issued a progress report on its harness racing stable audit programme.
In January this year the RIB announced it was planning to carry out 100 audits of harness racing stables this year.
So far it has completed 13, in both the North and South Islands.
A number of improvement notices have been issued.
The RIB has also noticed three recurring themes that have to be addressed :
The need to keep accurate treatment records
The importance of keeping all medications on site correctly, and to ensure they are not expired
And the importance for trainers to have emergency plans in place, especially in the wake of flooding and cyclone damage in the North Island.
