Thornley's lead narrows in Australasian Young Drivers' Championship

Canterbury's Sam Thornley has had his lead cut to three after day two of the Australasian Young Drivers' Championship in Victoria.

The 20-year-old was on 32 points - 18 points clear of his closest rival - going into the two races at Ballarat last night, after winning both the opening heats at Melton on Tuesday night.

But last night Western Australia's Emily Suvaljko emulated Thornley's opening night peformance by winning both the heats, with Carramar Solomona and Ghost Of Time.

That took her to 41 points and just three from Thornley whose best performance on day two was a third on Outlaw Man in the second heat.

The two other Kiwis involved in the championship Sarah O'Reilly and Crystal Hackett are fifth equal on 19 points.

The championship heads to Maryborough today and then to Bendigo tomorrow before the final heat as part of Inter Dominion Grand Final night at Melton on Saturday.
