THE ASCENT has been unveiled as the name for Addington Raceway's first ever slot race for three year old's. '

It will be part of a revitalised Show Day Twilight Racing carnival, on Friday November 15.

Featuring the best three-year-old trotters the race will be worth $500,000, and highlight what will now be known as the Show Day Twilight Races.

The mission to get to the top was the inspiration behind THE ASCENT slot race for the three-year-old trotters.

These age group stars are going places and this race is part of that journey.

They have started at basecamp (their early racing) and they are now climbing to what their connections hope will be ultimate glory at races like the Renwick Farms Dominion Trot and the Reharvest Rowe Cup in the years to come.

Applications for the 10 slots open at 9am on Monday, August 19, and will close at 4pm on Friday August 30.

Each slot will cost $30,000.

The slot-holders will be announced on September 9. They will then negotiate with owners and other interested parties to secure a horse to run in their slot.
