THE VELOCIty has been unveiled as the name for Addington Raceway's first ever slot race for three year old pacers.
It will be part of a revitalised Show Day Twilight Racing carnival, on Friday November 15.
Featuring the best three-year-old pacers the race will be worth $500,000, and highlight what will now be known as the Show Day Twilight Races.
Just like the famous nor-wester rolls over the Main Divide and hits the Canterbury Plains, THE VELOCITY represents the speed of the three-year-old pacers as they do battle around Addington Raceway.
It will be all on! See tomorrow's IRT New Zealand Trotting Cup contenders today.
Applications for the 10 slots open at 9am on Monday, August 19, and will close at 4pm on Friday August 30.
Each slot will cost $30,000.
The slot-holders will be announced on September 9. They will then negotiate with owners and other interested parties to secure a horse to run in their slot.
